okay so here are some thoughts on valentines day...

just thought i should share this just to get this out. but valentines day is kinda silly. it's just a superficial holiday targeted towards some marketing scheme. i really am not trying to sound negative here, but how superficial is it just to tell someone you love them on one day dedicated to "love"? i mean to tell you the truth i'd really rather someone showed me their feelings on a random day of the year rather than a forced love holiday. not only that, it just makes single people feel DEPRESSED and couples are just joyous. so it's really imbalanced. it makes people reflect on their loneliness and that's really not right. no holiday should make anyone depressed...oh yeah "be my valentine"...just for one day...it's so silly

people don't understand how strong of a word "love" is...i mean it's normal to have a crush on someone and that's basically lust and getting to know that one person...but "love" just takes it to a whole another level--it's a more complex emotion than what people think of it. "love" isn't about buying your significant other roses and chocolate and fancy dinners. i don't really know how i would describe love, but i'll have to find out myself. valentines day just gives the impression that you're forced to LOVE someone even though it shouldn't be that way.

oh yeah and the fact that people ask for really expensive presents on vday? its just makes it more superficial. i mean material items really shouldn't show if you truly love someone. as long as you show that you care for them by loving and supporting them that's all that counts. i really do not need a tiffany's necklace on vday nor a box of chocolates or a teddy bear--i'd rather have someone show they care for me. as the beatles said "i don't care too much for money, money can't buy me love..."...if anything i'm not high maintenance and really don't need to be lavished with materials...

all i wish was that people didn't put pressure on themselves to have a date on valentines day. and in reality, a date other than valentines day is more special because it's unexpected--it makes that significant day more special.
